The “adramytiani” or “fragolia” olives originates from Asia Minor and is named after the area of Adramyttio.
This variety takes up 20% of the island’s olive tree total and is found in the northern and north-eastern parts of Lesvos.
Its fruit matures between the months of November and December and has an olive oil content of 20 to 25%.
It renders an especially aromatic oil defined by the lightness of its texture and the fullness of its flavour. The olive fruit may also be salted and consumed as part of a meal.
Once salted, it may be preserved for 3 to 4 weeks.
