An exceptional extra virgin olive oil from Mytilene, a region traditionally renowned for its olive oil’s mildness and aromatic character.

Haralambos Papadellis’ company in Mytilene is a shining example of a Greek business steadily building a foundation for our national product’s best and most respectful utilisation. In recent years, they have been bottling extra virgin olive oil from local Lesvos varieties for export, and this year, they took a giant leap in packaging.

Today, the new Sapfo extra virgin olive oil is available with its impressive packaging and wonderful aroma. Sapfo borrows its name from the poet, a symbol of Lesvos, while the packaging, with its simplicity and dynamism, highlights the exceptional product within. The elegant black bottle protects the olive oil while giving it the prestige it deserves. At the same time, a knitted net connects the present with the past, similar to those used by the island’s women to gather their hair in the old days.

Organoleptically, the olive oil has one of the most intense and full aromas I have tasted, with an exceptional fruitiness only found in the world’s top olive oils. This is followed by a moderate spiciness and a slight bitterness, with the olive oil’s profile completed by aromas of grass, olive leaf, and green pepper.

With such fruitiness, this olive oil elevates any vegetable salad and can enhance baked goods with a small amount added at the end of cooking.
